Completing the FAFSA, TASFA, Common Application, and October Scholarships!

As we continue to work through application season and begin the financial aid process, it is easy to get stressed out or overwhelmed by the number of items you have to complete.  To help with this, I have complied a short list of resources that provide instructions to complete the FAFSA and TASFA applications as well as the Common Application.

TASFA: Click HERE for a link to the TASFA Application and application instructions, and HERE for a helpful video. Note that, at the time of publishing, the 2017-2018 TASFA has not yet been released.

FAFSA: Click HERE for a video that walks you step-by-step through the process for completing the FAFSA application. Note that this is a video for the 2016-2017 FAFSA, and that you should be completing the 2017-2018 FAFSA.  Also note that help documents can frequently be downloaded in both English and Spanish, and many videos are equipped with Spanish-subtitles.

Common Application: Click HERE for help completing the Common Application.

FAFSA Help: Click HERE for the FAFSA Help page, which has helpful FAQs as well as contact information for FAFSA if you need additional guidance.  The phone number, e-mail address, and (SUPER helpful!) online chat options can be found by clicking the “Contact Us” link.

Also, I saw THIS posting from JLV College Counseling with a list of October scholarships. Check it out, and thank Mr. Franco for posting it next time you see him at GROW meetings!

If, as you’re working, you find other helpful resources for completing applications, financial aid, or essays, feel free to leave those resources in the comment section below!
